Measures human Factor VIIa (fVIIa) in plasma.
Factor VII (fVII) is the initial zymogen of the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. Activation of fVII to fVIIa occurs via cleavage by Factors IXa, Xa, XIIa and thrombin. The enzymatic activity of fVIIa is greatly enhanced when complexed with tissue factor, and the complex will promote coagulation. fVIIa levels in plasma are approximately 1% of fVII (~ 5 ng/mL). fVIIa in plasma may play a role in ischemic heart disease and other pathological conditions. This ELISA measures fVIIa as well as fVIIa complexed with tissue factor (TF/fVIIa).
